Quotes From The Industry
"This works well on multiple levels. I like the triple stack hybrids because they give me better pest protection and therefore better yields. In addition, by participating in this program, I get reduced insurance premiums because I have lower risks to my crops. This saves me money on insurance while it makes me money by increasing my yields with better performing varieties."

-Steve Pigg, Bushnell, Illinois

"It didn't take long to figure out that the trait technologies pay for themselves. We're seeing 10 or 15 bushels per acre more now. In our area, we have such trouble with two kinds of corn borers for three straight months, but with the YieldGard VT Triple® we withstand that pressure and get the benefit of the lower crop insurance."

-John Derickson, Lambertson, Minnesota

"I'm pretty sold on the Biotech Yield Endorsement Program. It's worked well for us. Across all our acres, it adds up. I've participated since the beginning, and I'm planning on planting heavy in the Genuity™ SmartStax™ next year. I'm definitely tickled about being able to reduce my refuge acres from 20 percent to five percent."

-Bill Voreis, Argos, Indiana

 About Biotechnology Endorsement

U.S. farmers in 12 qualifying states who plant Genuity™ SmartStax™ and other qualifying triple-stack corn hybrids from Monsanto in 2010 will be eligible to reduce their crop insurance premiums as part of the Biotechnology Endorsement.

In 2010 for farmers planting Monsanto qualifying technologies, Colorado has been added to the list of BE qualifying states, and the program has been expanded to include both irrigated and non-irrigated corn grain acres in all qualifying states. The addition of Colorado brings the total number of states participating in the Biotechnology Endorsement to 12: Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Participation in the BE does not replace the importance of growers respecting the EPA-mandated refuge requirements.

The Biotechnology Yield Endorsement was created by Monsanto and first received RMA-USDA approval in 2008. Today it is known as the Biotechnology Endorsement. Products containing Monsanto’s triple stack technologies were the first-ever hybrids to be eligible for a crop insurance premium discount.
