About Biotech Yield Endorsement Program

Only YieldGard® Triple Technology is approved for a crop insurance premium discount.

The Biotech Yield Endorsement (BYE) is a new innovative crop insurance product that lowers premiums and recognizes growers who plant Monsanto’s stacked biotechnologies to reduce risk and increase yield.

  • Farmers that plant at least 75 percent of their insured acres within each insured unit to non-irrigated corn for grain hybrids that contain YieldGard VT Triple® and/or YieldGard® Plus with Roundup Ready® Corn 2 will qualify for the Biotech Yield Endorsement. The grower must also purchase a qualifying type of insurance policy (APH, CRC or RA).

    • Note: In most cases, insurable units are not the same as total corn acres. Most farmers have the option to divide corn acres into multiple insurable units. Hence, most farmers could take advantage of Biotech Yield Endorsement while not planting Biotech Yield Endorsement qualifying hybrids on all non-refuge acres.

  • The Biotech Yield Endorsement will be implemented as a pilot program in 4 states (MN, IA, IL, IN) by the Risk Management Agency – USDA in 2008.
  • The Biotech Yield Endorsement was co-submitted by Western Ag/Crop1 and will be available to be offered by all approved crop insurance companies.
